Is Pandemic “Pre-Crime” in Our Future?

America Now

The hysteria over COVID has provided authorities with the crisis they needed to crack down on our liberties. Governments will fight tooth and nail any attempt to get back to normal. Even if everyone were to get the COVID vaccine, you can guarantee that governments would keep mask mandates, travel restrictions, and stay at home orders in place. That’s how addictive power is.

Health authorities are no different, and they’re envisioning a massive, worldwide surveillance system that would analyze blood samples for the presence of antibodies to viruses. The idea is that authorities would have real-time information on how many people might have been infected by new viruses and how they responded to the virus, thus enabling them to mount a defense against the virus.

While the initial development of such a surveillance system might be done with willingly donated blood samples, how long would it be before such a system becomes mandatory? After all, if this is a matter of “public health,” and surveillance of random citizens’ blood supposedly helps authorities pinpoint the development and spread of viruses, why couldn’t mandatory blood draws be ordered by authorities? If public health authorities claim the power to forcibly quarantine or vaccinate individuals, why couldn’t they forcibly order blood draws?

This illustrates the slippery slope of government attempts to “help” us. As C.S. Lewis stated: “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some points be satiated; but those who torment us for their own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

That describes with succinct clarity the reasoning (if you can call it that) behind every action leftists undertake today. From forcing transgender acceptance to tearing down Confederate statues to imposing restrictions under the guise of protecting us from COVID, we’re at the mercy of busybodies who want to impose their own moral code on us, no matter how immoral and objectively evil that code may actually be.
